Springtime in NYC

Spring has finally arrived in the north eastern United States, and with it, sunshine, pollen – and car shows! Already, my weekend schedules are filling up until August. In the meantime, a whole lot of photos have happened since February’s Central Park snowpeople.

  • I went out to the left coast to cover the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix. Waking up in Long Beach to hear the IndyCar engines practicing in the distance was pretty cool. Two photo galleries are featured on Autobytel – a Highlights gallery and the Pirelli World Challenge.
  • Then hit the ground running at New York International Auto Show with Autobytel.

Last week, I received a bit of news that I never expected. The Museum of the City of New York decided to accession all of the photographs in the Rising Waters exhibit about NY/NJ during and after Hurricane Sandy, which means my photograph that was selected for the show will now become part of their permanent collection. I signed the papers to gift the photograph to the non-profit museum yesterday. The exhibit itself was incredible, and the closing extended several times. My photo of the MTA employee in the show:

Photographing the IndyCar and races in Long Beach was a blast! Not only did I get to shoot behind the ropes in the paddocks, pre-race in the the pits and the races themselves, I was lucky enough to land in the passenger seat of an SRT Viper for a hot lap with a pro race car driver speeding around the course. It was off the hook. Currently, I’m firming up plans with clients to shoot a variety of races this summer (Global Rallycross and TUDOR), as well as shooting more dirt track at my most favorite track of all, Lebanon Valley. Check in here or on my Facebook page – Pony Car Girl – for photo updates along the way. Happy Spring!
